White background

It seems to me I remember Rachelle saying white backgrounds are tricky.  Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about how this turned out.  I used a grey card for the white balance.  Not sure if it's correct still.

Close ups

I'm kind of obsessed with close ups.  I don't know why, but I think it's because I like being able to see where my focus is falling.  This was shot at an f/stop of 2.2 so only her one eye is in focus.  Whoops.  She's cute.  She was playing with her dollhouse that you can kind of see in the background.  I begged her to turn around and let me just take a few quick pictures of her.  Mostly just wanting to practice getting my exposure right and focus.  Like I said in the last post, soon I need to start working on good poses and composition.  Just taking what I can get from my kids at this point. :)

Another export test

I'm glad to see he doesn't have weird black spots in his eyes.  What WAS that with my last post of Kylie??  Here is my daily photo edit...I just kinda played around with stuff...little iris enhancement, clarity brush on his lashes, skin softening, did the luminance adjustment using that little target on his skin, sharpened the whole photo a little(35), and added a little vignette.  I'm kinda in to the vignetting, maybe because my backgrounds are lame and in my backyard or house and just need a little help. :)

Exporting test

YIKES!!!  Why is her eye all black?? I upped the Blacks too much??  It did not look like that in Lightroom!

Another cute hat pic

White Balance

I feel kinda lost with white balance.  I don't know what it's supposed to look like.  Sometimes I play around with it and I think it looks good, and then I compare it to a professional photographers photo and it's a pretty different color tone.  Is it something you just have to train your eye to learn what it's supposed to look like?  CAN you train your eye?

9-17-14 Photoshoot with Teagan Part 2

Here are some cute faces, but definitely not a cute background.  So basically today's editing consisted of adjusting the white balance (basically just to what looks good to my naked eye, I have no idea if it's right.  I ordered a gray card so I'm excited to use that.  I also upped the exposure some, softened the skin, used an iris enhancement brush and lightened the whites of the eyes a little.  I used a vignette on these ugly background ones too.  I love having a little willing model, and I am having so much fun taking pictures of her.

The colors are looking different again on blogger vs on my computer screen in Lightroom.  ??  They still look a lot better in Lightroom than on here too.

Before and After

I'm having fun seeing how much better my photos can look after editing them in lightroom.  As always, I'm sure there's a million things wrong still.  I've got nothing but time to learn. :)

Sharpening...a tricky trick.

Too much hair sharpening and the color of the blanket is weird.  And her right hand fingers are weird.  I'm posting pics even when I know they're wrong cuz that's what this blog is about.  Learning. :)

After the After...I played around some more, wanting to do whatever it took on those eyes!

Before and After

The purpose of this photo was to practice focusing on the eyes, and getting more familiar with adjusting my exposure settings.  Composition/background were not really taken in to consideration. :)

Outside

I haven't taken pictures outside for a while.  We went up to the temple tonight to walk around for FHE so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to take some pictures outside.  My kids reluctantly let me take a few.

This one of Alyssa is probably my favorite of the shoot.  She was so unhappy with me taking her pic, but I think she looks like a model. :)  I totally forgot that my ISO was set on 800.  Since we were outside I probably could have lowered that?

Ugh, I'm pretty sure these are terrible.  I'm only posting them so I can look back and see how far I've come.  :)
